TB/HIV
A survey of HIV prevalence among TB patients conducted in 2005 in ten randomly selected centers in Southern Sudan showed preliminary results of 11.2 % HIV co-infection in TB patients while routine data from six centers already implementing TBHIV Collaborative activities in 2007 indicate an HIV prevalence of 18.6 %. This alarming situation requires rigorous efforts to strengthen the collaborative activities between the TB and HIV programmes. Without effective control of the dual TB/HIV epidemic, the currently existing health service delivery systems are likely to be overstretched, particularly in the present context of limited resources.
AAA has established 8 DTC/VCT (Diagnostic Counselling & Testing / Voluntary Counselling & Testing) centres in 3 states namely Warrap (Marial-Lou and Tonj), Lakes (Yirol, Adior, Bunagok and Agangrial) and Northern Bahr El Ghazal (Gordhim and Nyamlell)
