General Surgery & Surgical Missions

Surgical services in South Sudan are almost inexistent. Few surgical services are carried out by NGOs as mobile for emergency.

2 AAA hospitals have been identified as suitable for emergency and elective surgery (Mapuordit and Marial-Lou). Hit-and-run surgical program approach was also introduced in collaboration with CCM-Italy in Gordhim, NBeG States.
This program is supported by Misereor, which provides running funds for the entire surgical missions, while CCM Italy is providing highly qualified surgeons who are able to work in extreme conditions of South Sudan.

Achievement in 2009:

• 62 surgical operations at Gordhim Hospital
• 402 surgical operations at Marial-Lou Hospital
• 1169 surgical operations at Mapuordit Hospital
